Item descriptionWhat to Expect on Your First Day
We’re excited to welcome you to the start of the session! Here’s what you can expect on your first day at the gym:
Arrival & Belongings
Athletes may place coats and shoes in the boot room upon arrival.
Additional hooks are available in the washrooms/change rooms further into the gym.
Directional signage is posted throughout the building to help guide you.
Check-In & Entering the Gym
Athletes will walk past the front desk and wait in the lobby area.
A coach will invite athletes into the gym when it’s time to begin.
Athletes may only enter the gym floor when instructed by a coach.
First Day Class Organization
On the first day, all athletes will enter the gym floor together.
Coaches will read attendance lists and sort athletes into their classes.
If your child’s name is not called, an admin staff member will be available to help find the correct class.
Parents & Spectators
Parents are not permitted on the gym floor, except in parented classes (under age 4).
Parents and spectators are welcome to watch from the bleacher viewing area.
After the First Week
Once athletes know who their coach is, future classes will be smoother.
In following weeks, athletes may go directly to their coach after being invited into the gym and will not need to wait to be sorted again.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak with a member of our admin team—we’re happy to help make your first day a great one!
-
All athletes in our programs will receive a report card at the end of each session, highlighting the skills they have worked on, improved, or excelled at. This helps athletes and families see growth and celebrate progress made throughout the session.
In addition to a report card:
All athletes receive a ribbon at the end of the session.
Athletes enrolled in badge-based programs (such as Galaxy, Nebula, Supernova, and similar levels) will receive either a ribbon or a badge.
Receiving a badge means the athlete has successfully passed that level.
CanGym Program Levels & Skills
Level expectations and skill lists are available online and are also posted in the spectator area.
We use the CanGym badge program, which is recognized across Canada and adapted by individual gyms to best support their athletes.
Our goal is to recognize effort, development, and confidence-every athlete’s progress matters.
-
We offer a bleacher seating area for parents and guardians who wish to stay and observe classes, including those whose children are enrolled in Active Start programs and do not require a parent on the floor.
Parents and guardians are not required to stay for classes.
Please note that our bleacher area is limited in size, and seating may be limited during busy times.
All athletes, parents, and spectators must remove their shoes upon arrival to help keep our gym clean and safe.
Viewing Guidelines
There is no upstairs viewing area at this time.
We are currently working toward offering a TV-based viewing option in the future—please stay tuned for updates.
Only one parent/guardian is permitted on the gym floor for parented classes.
During Class
If you need to speak with your child during class, please flag down a coach or admin staff member.
Parents and guardians may not shout, call out, coach, or direct athletes during class.
Disruptive behavior may result in being asked to leave the viewing area to ensure a positive learning environment for all athletes.
Munch & Merch
A Munch & Merch area is available on Saturdays.
Snack items are available throughout the week-please ask an admin staff member for assistance.
Thank you for helping us create a safe, focused, and positive environment for all athletes!
-
We do our best to have an admin staff member available at the front desk throughout class times. However, there may be times when the desk is unattended while staff are assisting with classes or helping other families.
If no one is at the front desk and you have a question, please email MarianRecDirector@gmail.com.
Kelsee, our Recreational Director, may be in her office. When her office door is open, you are more than welcome to stop in and ask questions or request assistance.
